    Day 2

St. Augustine is the oldest city in North
America, founded in 1565 but first explored
by Ponce de León as early as 1513. A
trolley tour will acquaint you with the area’s
unique Spanish history, including a guided
visit to the 17th-century Castillo de San
Marcos. Perhaps you’ll discover Ponce de
León’s illusive Fountain of Youth! (FB,L)

    Day 3

Midway along the Georgia coast is St.
    Simons Island, England’s southernmost
outpost in the New World. Rich in history
and natural beauty, you’ll visit the lighthouse
and explore the village before heading
    north. Savannah has been welcoming
visitors with style and grace since 1733,
    and guess what? You’re next! A well-located
    hotel encourages personal exploration.
Just be careful after dark in America’s most
    haunted city! DoubleTree Hotel Historic
    District – 2 nights (FB,D)

  • Day 4

    A trolley tour spotlights Savannah’s
    intricate system of 24 beautifully
    landscaped squares teeming with dogwood
and azalea. Here you’ll find history and
beauty in excess… plus a healthy dose of
gossip just to keep things lively, delivered
by local “characters” you’ll meet along the
way. Expect no less from the city that gave
us the cotton gin, Paula Deen and The Lady
Chablis! In the afternoon, visit Savannah’s
    beach, Tybee Island, for beachcombing
and a Low Country Boil for dinner, ending
with Toot’s famous prune cake of course!

    Day 5

Outside Charleston on the Ashley River
    stands Middleton Place. The plantation
was established in 1741 and today offers
visitors a rare glimpse into a time now “gone
with the wind.” After lunch on the grounds,
you’ll tour the family’s second home (the first
having been torched by Sherman’s troops),
then have time for the spectacular gardens
said to be the first in America to feature
camellias. Continuing on to Charleston, be
prepared for your amazement to only grow
as you enter this place known throughout
the South as “The Holy City.” Your elegant
accommodations are guaranteed to set the
tone. Meeting Street Inn – 2 nights (FB,L)

1861. Your farewell dinner will end the day –

A Coos Bay Christmas

First offered as a holiday excursion in 2013, it has been often requested by our Christmas crowd ever since, so we are pleased to bring A Coos Bay Christmas back for a return engagement.

This is an all-coach trip. Travel north to Ashland/Medford the first day. There’s a lunch break in Redding and tonight you’ll partake in the annual Christmas Feast at the Winchester Inn. The six-course meal comes with carolers and costumed staff.

The next morning (Christmas Eve), before departing for the coast, make an early morning visit to Harry & David’s. As is our Christmas shopping tradition, we have negotiated a little gift card to get you started on your expedition. Travel to the coast, stopping in Bandon at Washed Ashore, a most unique place that makes art out of ocean trash. At Cranberry Sweets, your sponsored-shopping activities continue. Finish the day at The Mill Casino/Hotel in Coos Bay. Dinner tonight is a Crab Fest (other options available), as the Dungeness season will have just started.

Christmas Day brings our legendary White Elephant Gift Exchange, an ecological tour of the area and a visit to Shore Acres State Park. Not only is there an interesting story, there is a wonderful display of Christmas lights. A holiday feast is planned.

The trip home takes you down the Oregon Coast, with shopping stops at Misty Meadows Jams and the House of Myrtlewood. Spend the night in Eureka and head home through the redwoods.
