    Day 1

Your Pacific Northwest adventure begins with an early morning flight to Seattle. Upon arrival, transfer to the Port of Tacoma to experience another form of travel. Step back in maritime history as you cruise the waters of the southern sound on the historic steamer, Virginia V. Affectionately called “Virginia Vee,” this ship has been steaming around Puget Sound since 1922. Our four-hour cruise will take us under the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and down past Steilacoom, Ketron Island, Anderson Island and into Budd Inlet. The festival kicks off this afternoon, and our waterfront hotel is minutes away from Percival Landing. DoubleTree by Hilton – 3 nights (L,D)

    Day 2

Mt. Rainier, dubbed “The Mountain” by the locals, dominates the skyline on a clear day. As a matter of fact, locals often say “The Mountain is out today.” Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, this iconic glacier-topped mountain is legendary with mountain climbers and casual visitors. Passing by alpine meadows and streams filled with crystal clear glacial water, travel to Paradise. The Paradise Jackson Visitors Center hosts films and exhibits relevant to this mountain, which by the way is an active volcano; and the Paradise Inn offers Mt. Rainier as a breathtaking backdrop during lunch in the historic Inn Dining Room. Return to Olympia in the late afternoon, to enjoy festival activities and tour the tugs. (FB,L)

    Day 3

Start your morning with a trip to Lattin’s Cider Mill, a small, family owned farm known for its apple cider and delicious apple fritters. In addition to their apple products, the mother-daughter owners have stocked the Farm Market with a variety of fruit syrups, honey, jams, and specialty meats and cheeses – including smoked salmon. This afternoon, the “world’s largest vintage tugboat race” takes place in the deep channel of Budd Bay. Viewing of the race is from the water aboard one of the festival’s host vessels. This evening, dinner features the best of the region and caps off our stay. (FB,D

  • Day 4

One last chance to taste the bounty of the region before returning to the airport for your afternoon flight home. (FB,L)
