  • Day 1

    Arrive in Chicago around noon and head to lunch at The O’Hare Gaslight Club, a “Speakeasy” inspired by the nostalgia of the zany 20s. A perfect way to kick off your time in Chicago! Check into your hotel to relax. After complimentary cocktails and appetizers, ascend 1000’ to the 94th floor of the iconic Hancock Tower for the 360° Chicago Observation Deck as the sun sets and the city lights twinkle. Make a quick stop for a little sweet treat before returning to your hotel. Dinner is on your own. Embassy Suites Downtown Magnificent Mile – 4 nights (L)

  • Day 2

    Learn about the impressive skyline at the Chicago Architecture Foundation where you’ll see a to-scale model of the city. Next, cruise right through the heart of the city on the Chicago River on a narrated tour. From the water the buildings take on a whole new scale! Lunch is own your own at The French Market, an eclectic mix of food vendors and specialty products all under one roof. This afternoon, you have the option to visit the Lincoln Park Zoo or browse the many upscale boutiques along the Magnificent Mile. Ever tried Chicago-style popcorn? You will! At Garrett’s Gourmet Popcorn everyone will get a tin of the addictive cheese and caramel mix. Dinner tonight is at The Berghoff, a local fine dining institution. (FB,D)

  • Day 3

    Today you choose your own attraction! Take in the vast collection at the Art Institute of Chicago, view over 32,000 marine animals at the famed Shedd Aquarium or visit the Museum of Science and Industry with exhibits ranging from WWII submarines to space exploration. Lunch is on your own. Make a visit to Millennium Park stopping at Cloud Gate, lovingly referred to as “The Bean”. The curves of its reflective surface make for some very entertaining pictures! After some time back at the hotel to kick your feet up and enjoy a complimentary cocktail, head to dinner at Starpolska. This beautifully decorated Polish restaurant serving up an expansive buffet is a hidden gem in an immigrant neighborhood. (FB,D)

  • Day 4

    Chicago is a city of many neighborhoods, and each has its own unique style. With our local guide the immigration story to Chicago will come alive with visits to an ethnic church, a Mexican bakery, Chinatown, and a Polish museum. At the Jane Adams Hull House, the exhibits tell the history of the immigrants that have passed through. You’ll even have a, extravagant Sunday Brunch at an Irish pub! Return to your hotel in the early evening. Dinner is on your own. (FB,BR)

  • Day 5

    Navy Pier is a must see on any trip to Chicago! Take a spin around the brand new Centennial Wheel. Enjoy one final taste of Chi-town with a Chicago-style hotdog. Learn of its interesting yet practical origin. Afterwards, go to the airport to catch a late afternoon flight home. (FB)

A Play on the Lake, A Ride to the Sky

Head to Lake Tahoe for a fun overnighter featuring the 1960’s musical, Beehive. An exuberant jukebox celebration of women musicians from the 60’s; Beehive transports audiences on a nostalgic musical journey. The outdoor venue at Sand Harbor is perfect for a summer night of music, laughter, and of course Aqua Net-glistening coiffures! Join your fellow Sports Leisure travelers for a late morning trip to Truckee. Check into the Hampton Inn, don your best 60’s apparel (optional) before dinner at Moody’s before enjoying the show. Imagine, this venue has one of the most stunning backdrops in the world, a Lake Tahoe sunset!
After breakfast at the hotel; depart for Olympic Valley. Squaw Valley is one of the largest ski areas in the United States, and was host site of the entire 1960 Winter Olympics. A tram ride to the summit provides an aerial view of the valley, plus takes you to High Camp for lunch. Visit the Olympic Museum before returning to Sacramento, mid-afternoon.
