Featuring natural beauty and western hospitality

Wonder Valley has a long and colorful history: from the traditions of the Yokuts, the Native Americans who called the valley home, to the days of the Dalton Gang – holed up on the east side of the San Joaquin Valley. Located in the Sierra foothills outside of Fresno, this is cattle country. George Pierson started the first guest ranch here in the early 1900’s. Today the ranch is owned by the Oken Family. Enjoy fine hospitality as you take in the rich history and enjoy the leisurely activities offered by the resort.

  • Day 1

Door-to-door service will deliver you to the Sports Leisure office. Travel through the San Joaquin Valley pausing in Reedley for a light lunch at the historic Opera House before continuing to Wonder Valley. This evening enjoy a ranch welcome! Wonder Valley Ranch Resort – 2 nights (L,D)

  • Day 2

Leave the foothills for the day, traveling into Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. While you won’t actually be traveling deep into Sequoia National Park, there are plenty of Giant Sequoias to view at Grant’s Grove. Take a morning walk through these ancient trees and listen to the stories they have to tell of their discovery. Later, travel to Kings Canyon. Carved by the mighty Kings River, it is deeper than the Grand Canyon. Follow the river to Grizzly Falls and Zumwalt Meadow for an afternoon filled with awe and wonder. Return to the ranch in time for dinner and s’mores around an evening campfire. (FB,L,D)

  • Day 3

As you leave the foothills behind, stop in Fresno for a tour of the Forrestiere Underground Gardens. Designed and built by one man, his vision of beauty stands today as a testament to his passion. Return to Sacramento in the late afternoon. (FB,L)
