Daily Itinerary
Day 1
Your ride-share car brings you to the Sports Leisure office this morning. Travel via Lux motor coach to Wonder Valley Ranch, which is your gateway to fun, national park, and a great mini vacation. Once known as a refuge for Hollywood stars in the 1950's, this hideaway will be your home for 2 nights.
Departing Sacramento, your first stop is for lunch and a tour at the Hilmar Cheese Factory. Continue to Fresno, where you take a left turn and head into the Sierra foothills. It's spring, so the hills should still be green from the winter rains.
Your resort-style hotel rooms offer classic accommodations for every guest, including complimentary Wi-Fi and in-room coffee service. There's lots to do, as you'll find out this afternoon, as optional horseback riding or learning to shoot a bow and arrow if offered. Or perhaps you would prefer just relaxing by the lake. The springtime beauty of Wonder Valley Ranch awaits. Wonder Valley Ranch - 2 nights (L,D)
Day 2
Today is all about discovery. With a knowledgeable step on guide, we will experience the sights and sounds of Kings Canyon National Park. The park features deeps canyons, towering cliffs, and some of the world's largest trees, the Giant Sequioas, including the famous General Grant Tree (which you will see). Return to your resort in mid-afternoon. Cocktail hour, dinner and a campfire under the stars offer a great way to end a wonderful day. (FB, L, D)
Day 3
After breakfast, there's time for one last activity at the ranch. Then it's time to head for home. First stop is at the Forestiere Underground Gardens in Fresno. These gardens are a unique and fascinating network of subterranean rooms, courtyards, and passageways. They were hand-built by Baldassare Forestiere, a Sicilian immigrant, over a period of 40 years from 1906 to 1946. It's a fascinating story.
Before leaving Fresno, there's a stop for lunch, arriving at the Sports Leisure office in the late afternoon. (FB,L)
