  • Day 1

Your door-to-door transportation brings you to the Sports Leisure office to meet your fellow adventurers. The journey north begins with a stop in Santa Rosa for Sunday Brunch at the Flamingo Hotel. Dinner is included tonight at the historic Benbow Inn. Best Western Humboldt House Inn – Garberville (BR,D)

  • Day 2

The Avenue of Giants weaves its way through some of the grandest groves of redwoods and other trees in California. A local guide and historian will be along to share the stories of the people who helped preserve these trees and perhaps tell a tall tale or two. Spend the day wandering through these giants, stopping at the visitors center to learn about Charles Kellogg, the naturalist known as the “bird singer,” and some of the other wonders of the redwood forest before finally, at the end of the day, resting in Eureka. Red Lion Hotel (B,L)

  • Day 3

The Blue Ox Millworks is a working mill creating doodads and thingamajigs for the beautiful old Victorian-style homes that dot Eureka’s Old Town. Visit with the craftsmen that keep these “painted ladies” in good repair. In the afternoon, take a short stroll through the ancient giants of Prairie Creek State Park, one of the most beautiful of our redwood forests. Tonight, your rooms are right on the beach in Brookings. Enjoy a leisurely evening at one of our newest discoveries. Best Western Waterfront Inn – 2 nights (FB,L)

  • Day 4

The boats of the Rogue River have been carrying the U.S. mail since 1895. Enjoy a scenic 64-mile journey (roundtrip) up river to Singing Springs Lodge for a casual lunch buffet and an afternoon of scenic beauty. (Warning – you might just get damp!) Return to Brookings in the late afternoon for more beach time. (B,L)

  • Day 5

After driving along some of the most beautiful coastline on the West Coast, we stop this morning in Bandon. There will be time for cranberry sweets and lunch at your leisure before continuing to Coos Bay. Tonight two treats await you: a fabulous crab feast and the sounds of the Oregon Coast Music Festival Symphony. Over 80 members strong, this festival orchestra attracts musicians from around the globe – specific concert details should be available in November. The Mill Casino Hotel (B,D)

  • Day 6

Spend a leisurely morning at the hotel or take in the new Coos History Museum & Maritime Collection for a look into life on the coast. A mid-day flight from Coos Bay, by way of San Francisco, saves you a day and a half of over-the-road travel! (FB)
