  • Day 1

Fly away on a morning flight to Portland, then hit the ground running. Lloyd Center is your first stop for lunch and a chance to enjoy the colorful sights and sweet fragrances of the Rose Society’s 129th Annual Spring Rose Show. In the afternoon, visit downtown for two very special experiences. With our expert local guide (and former Sports Leisure employee Merrill Mixer) enjoy a multi-modal look at the city by streetcar and aerial tram. Discover the flavors of Portland – tea, spirits and salts to be exact – on our exclusive Forktown Tour with samples at each stop along the way. In the evening we’ll toast a great day of touring with dinner served at the trendy restored Kennedy School. Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport (D)

  • Day 2

The Grand Floral Parade is both the Rose Festival and Portland’s premier event. Don’t worry about the city’s frequent rainfall. You’ll view the parade from reserved seating inside Memorial Coliseum with “creature comforts” (restrooms and concessions) only steps away. As a special treat, the Queen’s Coronation precedes the parade. Oregon’s Capital City of Salem is your next stop for lunch (McGrath’s Fish House) and a whirl around the historic carousel. Then you’re bound for the coastal community of Newport where quaint accommodations boast all ocean-view rooms! Elizabeth Street Inn – 3 nights (FB,L,D)

  • Day 3

Newport has so much to offer! Take an educational marine cruise on the bay, to learn how crab pots work, and to meet some of the creatures who call Newport Harbor home. Shop and enjoy lunch on the wharf, then have “dinner with the creatures” at the Oregon Aquarium, a truly unique experience. Of course there will be leisure time for a walk along the beach! (B,D)

  • Day 4

Your destination today is just south of the coastal town of Florence for a buggy ride on the giant dunes. You’ll have a choice of a scenic or a more adventurous ride. For lunch, choose from one of the quaint eateries on the old waterfront in Florence. No visit to the coast would be complete without a trip to a lighthouse, and historic Yaquina Head, c. 1868, fits the bill just north of Newport. (B,D)

  • Day 5

Take a scenic drive up the coast this morning to Lincoln City for lunch and a bit of sightseeing. In nearby Tillamook, the Blue Heron French Cheese Company is a popular and tasty stop to take home a souvenir or two of the dairy country. Return to Portland in the late afternoon for your return flight. (B,L)

A Day Out in San Francisco

Enjoy a ride to The City for a day of shopping, lunch or just looking around! The coach will drop you at Pier 39/ Fishermens Wharf and Union Square.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Sierra Repertory Theatre performs one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. Two pairs of lovers and a rag-tag group of actors get lost in the woods. Meanwhile, the fairy kingdom is turned upside down by two quarreling leaders. Hold on to your heart – Cupid is armed and dangerous; and you’ll be laughing as his arrows go astray. Lunch is included at the City Hotel prior to the 2pm matinee.

A Play on the Lake, A Ride to the Sky

Head to Lake Tahoe for a fun overnighter featuring the 1960’s musical, Beehive. An exuberant jukebox celebration of women musicians from the 60’s; Beehive transports audiences on a nostalgic musical journey. The outdoor venue at Sand Harbor is perfect for a summer night of music, laughter, and of course Aqua Net-glistening coiffures! Join your fellow Sports Leisure travelers for a late morning trip to Truckee. Check into the Hampton Inn, don your best 60’s apparel (optional) before dinner at Moody’s before enjoying the show. Imagine, this venue has one of the most stunning backdrops in the world, a Lake Tahoe sunset!
After breakfast at the hotel; depart for Olympic Valley. Squaw Valley is one of the largest ski areas in the United States, and was host site of the entire 1960 Winter Olympics. A tram ride to the summit provides an aerial view of the valley, plus takes you to High Camp for lunch. Visit the Olympic Museum before returning to Sacramento, mid-afternoon.
