“What’s New” and “What’s That” in San Francisco?

Thu, June 7th

Every tour to San Francisco has people asking “what’s that building” or “what’s that new construction going to be?” Undergoing a frenzy of growth, building, and redevelopment in the downtown area, be one of the rst to learn and know “what’s new and what’s that” in San Francisco. With Craig Smith as local guide, see up close new and architectural attractions including the Salesforce Tower (tallest building in San Francisco), Chase Center for Warriors, South of Market Area known as SOMA, Dogpatch Neighborhood, Transbay Bus Terminal, China Basin, the contemporary silver monument of Venus de Milo (it is nine-stories tall at 92 feet in height), and the controversial Millennium Tower. Now referred to as the “Leaning Tower of SF,” it is home to prominent residents including Joe Montana and appears to be sinking! Both fun and interesting, this new tour also includes lunch at Pompei’s Grotto Restaurant mid-day.

The Humans

Sat, June 16th

The Humans is the recipient of four 2016 Tony Awards including Best Play (Author, Stephen Karam), Best Featured Actress in a Play, Best Featured Actor in a Play. Stephen Karam’s The Humans is an uproarious, hopeful, and heartbreaking play that takes place over the course of a family Thanksgiving dinner. Breaking with tradition, Erik Blake has brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate and give thanks at his daughter’s apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside the ramshackle pre-war duplex, and eerie things start to go bump in the night, the Blake clan’s deepest fears and greatest follies are laid bare. Our modern age of anxiety is keenly observed, with humor and compassion, in this new American classic. Don’t miss this show as we only have this one date and there are no other matinees scheduled during its run in San Francisco. Our Saturday trip includes lunch on your own in the Union Square area, followed by the 2pm matinee. Return to Sacramento directly after the conclusion of this one-act show.
